Antwi targets CAF Confed. Cup glory with Dreams FC

Newly signed on Dreams FC striker, John Antwi, has set his sight on propelling his club into the group stages of the ongoing CAF Confederation Cup competition.

The widely travelled Antwi, who has had stints with clubs like Ismaily, Al Ahly, and Misr El Makasa, all of Egypt, as well as Al Gaish, joined the ‘Still Believe’ boys with the aim of strengthening the team’s attack.

On Sunday, Antwi brought his experience to bear on the side as he scored the winning goal to see Dreams FC through to the next stage of the competition.

Speaking to journalists after the game, he said the goal was for the team and not a personal achievement to celebrate.

“The goal was one for the team and not a personal one; I am here to play my part and help the team with the experience I have been playing in the finals of both the Champions League and the Confederations Cup, and that is what just happened.”

“The squad is a very young one that needs guidance. This is their first time at the continental level, so there would be a lot of mistakes. It is the reason the coach, (Karim Zito), and his staff are there to help.”

“My goal is to guide them going forward and at least make sure we make it to the group stages of the competition.”

Antwi said with the hard work, determination and dedication shown by the playing body and all concerned, Dreams FC would surely make it to the group stages.

“The team is a work in progress, and we will not stop until we all get it right.

Dreams FC will next face Sierra Leonean side, Khallon FC, in the second round of the preliminary stages of the competition, hosting the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 15, with the reverse fixture taking place on September 29 at the Southern Arena Stadium.
