Hearts aim to tame Accra Lions

Accra Hearts of Oak will engage high-flying Accra Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium in a tricky Ghana Premier League (GPL) match day 28 regional derby at 6pm.

It is one of the new emerging rivalries in the competition as the Lions attempt to rub shoulders with the traditional forces, Hearts and Olympics.

They have created a good impression about themselves since their promotion to the elite level.

Despite their inconsistency, they have managed to stay above water and with a quite impressive second round outing to improve their standing on the league log, the Lions would face a stern test, coming against the Phobians who are coming from a 2-0 defeat in the hands of another regional foe, Legon Cities.

The Phobians may be favourites with some of the results they have churned out in the second round, but it would be very difficult to rule out an Accra Lions upset.

At the Dr Kwame Kyei Park in Kumasi, Nations FC will hope to consolidate their top position on the league table with a win against Bibiani Gold Stars.

The visitors have not been good travelers this season but a win over Hearts of Oak in Accra seem to have revived their belief snatching points away from home.

They would ride on that and attempt a similar feat over Nations FC who have maintained a healthy challenge on leaders, Samartex FC, whose game against Great Olympics have been postponed to Wednesday.

That offers Nations FC an opportunity to experience life at the top but would have to scale the Gold Stars hurdle.

At home, Bechem United look promising to worsen the plight of Kpando Hearts of Lions, while Aduana stars FC battle with Karela United in a game of equals at the Dormaa Park.

Nsoatreman FC would be at home against Bofoakwa Tano as Legon Cities entertain Berekum Chelsea at the Dawu Theatre of Dreams today at 3pm.

The Medeama versus Kotoko game has been postponed to Wednesday with a date yet to be fixed for the Dreams FC versus Real Tamale United game.
