GPL: Matic chase second consecutive win

Accra Hearts of Oak will head to Cape Coast today to deliver a baptism of fireonGhana Premier League (GPL) debutants Kotoku Royals in a match day five game of the ongoing championship sponsored by betPawa.

It will be Serbian coach Slavko Matic’s second game at the helm of affairs of the Phobians.

Coach Matic is going into this game with eyes fixed on the three points but his opposite number, Seth Ablade has vowed to give Hearts a difficult test today.

Kotoku Royals have settled well at their adopted venue Cape Coast Stadium, having seen their application to use the Akim Oda Stadium rejected by the Club Licensing Board.

At the moment, they are without a defeat at the venue.

And Coach Ablade has stated that they have something special for their Cape Coast fan base that will see the Phobians leave empty handed.

At the Accra Sports Stadium, Accra Lions will aim at a fourth straight win of the season when they host visiting new boys Nsoatreman FC.

Lions are on a rich vein of form this season, pickinga historic three straight league wins for the first time in the club’s history.

They defeated Dreams FC 1-0 last week to climb to second spot.

A win today will take them to the summit of the league table until the rest of the games are honoured tomorrow.

Nsoatreman FC are just two points shy of the second place occupied by Lions and haveenjoyed an impressive form in the opening four games where they have lost one, drawn one and won two.

However, having picked just one point in their two away matches, it remains to be seen if there would be a turn around this time round.

Defending champions Asante Kotoko who suffered their first defeat of the season against Bechem United on Thursday in Bechem will return to the Baba Yara Stadium to host new boys Samartex 1996 FC.

Only three points separates both teams going into the fixture.

Kotoko have two wins, a draw and a loss while Samartex come into the game with four straight draws.

League leaders Aduana Stars will welcome seventh placed Legon Cities to the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park tomorrow in a game the ‘Ogya’ boys would want to win to appease their home fans.

Aduana Stars’ win over Medeama SC last week have somewhat put their title aspirations in a different gear and coming up against a Legon Cities side that lost to Medeama, the home side would be smiling after 90 minutes.

However, Cities have won their last two games on the road and that throws this fixture open as they seem to have a good away form that can help determine this fixture.

In other games, third placed Berekum Chelsea who are yet to lose a game will stay at their fortress, the Golden City Park in Berekum to host Real Tamale United.

Bibiani GoldStars will return to the DUN’s Park in Bibiani to welcome strugglers King Faisal; Karela United will be at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park to lock horns with Bechem United while Great Olympics take on Medeama SC at the Accra Sports stadium.
