2nd HAG memorial walk held

The Handball Association of Ghana (HAG) on Saturday held the second health walk to honour the memory of its late Vice President, Mr. Patrick Nortey Dowuona.

The event brought together past and present handball players as well as administrators to engage in the exercise as their last respect for the man considered as a Colossus in the sport.

It begun at the Ghana Prisons Sports Complex at Cantonment and walked through parts of Cantonment, Osu Oxford Street to the family house of the deceased and continued to the Accra Sports Stadium where handball games were played to climax the event.

In the female match, the Probables emerged winners with a 16-9 score line over the Possibles.

In the male division, Possibles defeated The Probables 12-11 to win the glittering trophies at stake and cash prizes.

Addressing the guests, Secretary General of HAG, Mr. Charles Amofah hailed the deceased Vice President who he described as a pillar and financier of the sport.

With the funeral set for Friday and Saturday, he disclosed that the HAG was expecting delegations from the Confederation of Africa Handball Federation (CAHF) and some countries in the West Africa sub-region.
