Palm Wine FC win RAD 5-aside tournament

 Palm Wine FC emerged winners of the first edition of the RAD La Homowo 5-aside football tournament played at the La Roman JHS Park.

Solomon Kotei, scored the only goal in the 1-0 win over Centre FC to win the championship.

The goal was resolutely defended well over 60 minutes by the Palm Wine boys.

En route to the final, Palm Wine defeated Gigolo 2-0, accounted for Trok Station 2-1 on penalties at the quarter final stage, and beat Adjeman FC 1-0 in the semi-final.

Centre FC defeated His Majesty 4-0, beat Kaajaanor 2-1 on penal­ties after a 1-1 draw before seeing off Green Court 2-0 for a slot in the finals.

Palm Wine FC received a cash reward of GH¢3,000, a trophy and medals, while Centre FC received GH¢2,000 and medals.

Richard Sowah of Palm Wine FC was adjudged the Best Player of the tournament; Odoi Saviola of Cen­ter FC was the goal king with three goals, with the Most Discipline Team award going to Palm Wine FC. They received trophies and cash amounts of GH¢500 each.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the RAD Group of Companies, organisers of the tournament, Mr Raymond Add­ai-Danquah, congratulated the winners and promised an expanded competition and prize money for the next tournament.

He thanked the La Traditional Council and the 2023 La Homowo Planning Committee for embracing the tournament to spice this year’s Homowo celebrations.

The Secretary of the 2023 La Homowo Planning Committee, Mr Theodore Adjei, thanked the organisers, and hoped it would be sustained.
