Can Legon Cities upset Hearts?

Accra Hearts of Oak will host Legon Cities in their midweek betPawa Ghana Premier League (GPL) fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium today in a match day 15 clash.

The Phobians would hope to win as they aim to dethrone league leaders Aduana Stars and second placed Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the summit of the table.

Hearts are beaming with confidence ahead of the game, following their 1-0 victory over Medeama in the weekend’s top-liner and would go all out for a consecutive win against a struggling Legon Cities side.

The Phobians are exhibiting some flamboyant football under Serbian coach Matic Slavko and another win place them in the race for the league title.

The likes of Kojo Obeng Jnr, Eric Esso, Samuel Inkoom, Caleb Amankwah and new inclusion Linda Mtange have been instrumental in Hearts’ resurgence and would ensure they give Legon Cities a run for their money.

Legon Cities on the other hand, are yet to win a game this year with their last victory recorded on December 21, a 3-0 win against newly promoted Kotoku Royals.

They have since played five games without a win with three of those games at home and two on the road, with three draws and two defeats.

Though it appears the game against a well-drilled Hearts side had come at a wrong time considering their dip in form, the Royals understand victory would be a huge confidence booster for the team in their bid to avoid relegation.

Legon Cities could also pull a surprise especially playing at the Accra Sports Stadium which would be a familiar territory for the visitors.

Though it would be a tough task for Legon Cities, they must put up an extraordinary performance to avoid defeat and walk away with at least a point.

In other matches today, league leaders Aduana Stars would face off with Dreams FC at Dawu in another mouthwatering fixture with the host determined to cause an upset.

Aduana, with the pressure from Kotoko and Hearts would also be desperate for the three points as a slip would get them dislodged from the summit.

Newly promoted side Kotoku Royals and Bibiani Goldstars would battle it out in a very cagey fixture while Samartex host Tamale City at Samreboi.

In Kumasi, King Faisal would play against Medeama in another interesting encounter while Nsoatreman host Berekum Chelsea at the Nsoate Park.

The midweek fixtures would continue tomorrow with Accra Lions hosting Accra Great Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium while Karela United square off with Kotoko to complete the round.
