Annor Walker hails Oly players …for Accra Lions rout

Accra Great Olympics Head Coach, Daniel Annor Walker, says the hard work put in by his players was what resulted in their 3-0 thrashing of Accra Lions on Monday.

Great Olympics’ four-game unbeaten run was under threat from the Lions side that punctured Olympics ego last season at the same venue with a similar scoreline.

Speaking to the media after the game, an elated Annor Walker credited the playing body for the victory which he described as revenge for what the Lions did to Olympics last season.

“All credit to the players; the way they bought into what we have been trying to do since our last

game was the reason we secured this victory,” he stated.

According to him, the exact routines the team rehearsed at training manifested in the game and they took advantage of it to seal victory.

“Today we should have scored five goals. It was a revenge time for me, because coming into the game, I was told they beat Olympics 3-0 last season here. So, I had revenge at the back of my mind and plotted to score more than three goals.”

Before the game, Olympics had scored just a goal in four games and that was a major headache for the veteran tactician.

However, Coach Walker said he worked on the wingers and offensive midfielders, in terms of their shooting ability as well as crosses and finishing. The results from the training ground manifested perfectly in the game, he added.

“I wish to stay as the league leader until the season is over, however, I know there will be ups and downs but we’ll strive to keep our present position, he revealed.

The coach singled out Man-of-the-Match, Emmanuel Antwi, for praise after he contributed two goals.

“He has a penchant for good long-range drives yet he refuses to do so in games but rather at training, so I was on him during the week and here, he is the best player. He should keep it up. He has a lot in him. I pray they keep up with such a performance for us to stay where we are until the end,’’ he noted.

Olympics will on Sunday play as guest toAduana Stars at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park in Dormaa, a venue coach Walker described as a ‘lion’s den.’

“I know we are not going to have it easy in Dormaa but with a good plan we shall surely return with good news,”
