Ampadu confident ahead of WABBA Championship

Ghanaian bodybuilder, Martinson Ampadu, aka ‘Rock of Africa,’ is set to compete at the inaugural World Amateur Body Building Association (WABBA) Championship in Togo.

The bodybuilding event, the first national competition scheduled for Sunday, in Lomé, would attract bodybuilders from across West Africa.

Speaking to the Times Sports, Martison Ampadu said the upcoming championship would provide him with another platform to compete with some of the best bodybuilders from West Africa.

Commenting on the challenge, he conceded it will be a very tough championship but also sounded optimistic about winning medals in the men’s physique category.

“I have been in training over the past few weeks, gearing up for the championship. I am hopeful I will emerge victorious in the competition, but it will certainly not come easy,” he stated.

“I am going there with one purpose, and that is to win. I want support from all Ghanaians. I am grateful for the support I have enjoyed so far,” he added.

His Manager, Mr Van Calebs, was also confident in his athlete’s ability to win medals at the competition.

Martinson Ampadu, “The Rock of Africa,” has featured in major competitions around the world and recently won the men’s physique category at the 2023 Body Building Championship in Indonesia.

He won the silver medal at the recently held International Fitness and Body Building Federation (IFBB) West African Championship held in Accra.
