The Head Coach of Samartex FC,Nurudeen Amadu, has described their goalless draw game with Hearts of Oak in their match day six clash as a good result and the beginning of positive results to come in their away fixtures.
The ‘Timber Giants’delivered the second draw in a row for the Phobians after recordinga similar scoreline with Dreams FC.
Prior to the game, Coach Amadu and his side have lost all points on the road – a 2-0 defeat to Nations FC and 1-0 to Nsoatreman FC.
Addressing a post-match press conference after the game, Coach Amadu described
the point won as a huge lift which would go on to push them to greater heights, especially in their away games.
“For an away game, one point is very valuable. Losing all the previous away games and gaining a point here today is a step we hope to build on in subsequent games.”
He admitted that the team’s poor away record created doubts over the team’s ability to get a point in their next two games which were against Hearts of Oak and Medeama SC.
“We had this at the back of our minds, so coming into the game with Hearts of Oak, we were not ready to accept a loss. We planned for the three points but Hearts is a big club and we cannot take them for granted.”
According to him, the one point was huge for them as it is going to spur them on in the next game against Medeama SC in match day seven.
On the game itself, the former national Under-20 coach said it was a very difficult assignment for his side, because Hearts of Oak was a big club with some good talents.
“They dominated play and came close to scoring but we were compact in midfield and defence, however, we were not able to do the offensive transition and that affected our goal-scoring abilities.’’
On their next encounter against the Yellow and Mauves in Tarkwa, Coach Amadu states that they are a good side and very difficult nuts to crack.
“Medeama are playing in Africa so it will be a tough game but with the right preparation, we can scale over that hurdle too, he revealed.’’
