Meteors to chase double over Gabon

Ghana’s U-23 team, the Black Meteors will face off with the Panthers of Gabon in the second leg of the U-23 African Cup of Nation (AFCON) qualifier in Gabon.

The Meteors have a huge advantage after walloping the Panthers 4-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.

Led by skipper Yaw Yeboah, the team is beaming with confidence as Gabon would have to score five goals in order to qualify ahead of the Meteors.

Judging by the Meteors’ display, they could record a double over the Gabonese.

According to the skipper, who spoke ahead of the team’s journey to Gabon on Sunday, they would go all out to secure a place at the U-23 AFCON.

He added that, though they do not feel pressured, they would not underestimate the Gabonese and play as if it was a final.

“We are confident and certain that the home side would throw everything at us, but we will remain calm and deliver,” he stated.

The team, he said, is in a good shape and high spirit for the game and hopes to always put smiles on the faces of Ghanaians.

With the 4-0 advantage, the Gabonese must overturn it with five unanswered goals but the odds favour the visitors again.
