The Convention People’s Party (CPP) is making strides at annexing the seat of government in the next polls even before the dust settles on Election 2020.
It said it is also confident of winning the 2024 presidential elections to form the next government with the strides it had made so far.
The leadership of the party has called for the country’s challenges to be addressed in a holistic approach devoid of political and parochial interests to reduce the level of hardships of the citizenry.
Nana Akosua Sarpong-Kumankumah, National Chairperson of the CPP, hinted that the party had started deploying effective and efficient strategies to amass votes and eventually break the power-sharing between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) since the beginning of the Fourth Republic.
“How do you eat a big elephant? A slice at a time, so for us, how do we seize power? You connect to the people, you have a message, and fortunately for us today, if you saw the #FixTheCountry campaign, it tells you that the youth themselves are fed up and they know that this duopoly is not going to take them anywhere, and it is not about the individuals.
“We have nice people in the NPP. I love Dan Botwe, and I love the president of the country too, there are nice people like John Mahama, he is a handsome, nice man, I really love him, but truth be told, their policies, programmes and social interventions are not working, that is what we are talking about,” Madam Sarpong-Kumankumah bemoaned.
She indicated that the CPP needed to court the support and assistance of discerning Ghanaians who have realised there were enough compelling reasons to give another political party a chance to steer the country’s affairs in the right direction which is the CPP.
Madam Sarpong-Kumankumah said citizens do not need guns and “if guns were needed then there would have been a problem for the country to resolve but you need a thumb, and the thumb means that you, I and every individual, including all the frustrated youth should give the CPP a chance to govern the affairs of the nation in a prudent manner”.
She is convinced that her party would break the jinx with the candidate they would present to the electorates in the next four years. –myjoyonline.com
