Speak against ills in educational system

Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the opposition National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) vice presidential candidate in the 2020 presidential election has called on Christians to speak against what she said appears to be the destruction of the educational system in the country.

She wondered why “the Church which was a pioneer in such transforming initiatives in the educational sector can today afford to become quiet in the face of the destruction of the ideals they had established.”

Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang, former Minister of Education, made the call as Special Guest of Honour at the 5th anniversary of the Kissi Methodist Church in the Central Region on Saturday.

The anniversary was on the theme; ‘Transformed to Transform.’

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, a Methodist herself was thankful to the Church for the role they have played in education, health and in the provision of other social services in the country over the years.

She urged members of the Church and Christians to remember the efforts and sacrifices of those who had come before them, and to ensure that their legacy was stronger and more impactful than they met it.

The example of Jesus Christ who used his unique position as an anointed of God to help the sick, the poor and the vulnerable, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said was worthy of emulation by all Christians.

She commended the founding members of the Kissi Diocese and Methodist Church for “planting good seeds that is bearing fruits of transforming many.”
