Gt. Accra Div. 2 League to start Dec 14

 The Greater Accra Regional Foot­ball Association (GARFA) will kick start the 2022/23 Division Two League on December 14 with a total of 91 clubs grouped in six zones com­prising of 15 teams each.

The 2021/22 season had 103 clubs in seven zones where A5 Rences emerged champions after beating Na God in the middle-league play-off in July.

The new season will follow the same format where the winners from each zone will play in the middle-league play-off to determine the winner for the Division One League (DOL) spot.

Speaking at the 2022/23 Congress held at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, the GARFA Chairman, Mr. Samuel Aboabire said over 300 coaches have been trained in the region to give a season a competitive edge.

That, he said, should make it possible for all the participating clubs to hire qualified and certified coaches with the minimum licensed ‘D’.

He said three clubs will be relegated at the end of the season and asked clubs to practice modern trends of football, including information technology in the registration of players.

According to him, affiliation fees will be GH¢1,000 for second division clubs, GH¢500 for third division sides and female clubs and GH¢350 for colts/juvenile teams.

Mr Aboabire said officiating fees will be pegged at GH¢250 for second division, GH¢100 for third division and GH¢50 for the women teams.

He said each club will receive five footballs to prepare for the new cam­paign and cautioned that players or club administrators who fail to comply with the rules will face disciplinary action.

The League Board Chairman of GARFA, Mr. George Aforklenyei con­gratulated the newly promoted clubs and Jonathan Sowah of Danbort FC who scored 22 goals last season.

He assured of fair officiating for the season and tasked clubs to report bad referees to the appropriate quarters
