The Greater Accra Regional chapter of the Ghana Redcross Society, a non profit organization, over the weekend inaugurated a 12-member committee to stair the affairs of the group at the regional level.
The core objective of the Redcross Society is to alleviate human suffering, protect life and health, and uphold human dignity, especially during armed conflicts and other emergencies. It is present in every country and supported by millions of volunteers worldwide.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, National Treasurer of the group Emmanuel Djan Ashley urged the new committee members to eschew indiscipline and show commitment in all their endeavours.
He noted that disciplined played a crucial role in service delivery including helping to maintain high levels of professionalism.
He said individuals who demonstrate discipline in the discharge of their duties are seen as serious and reliable persons.
“In a team where there is no discipline success will be very difficult to achieve therefore since you have decided to help humanity progress by accepting these new positions, please ensure you make discipline a hallmark so that together we touch lives successfully,” he added.
Mr Djan also underscored the need for members of the Ghana Redcross Society to promote peace in all their dealings and desist from engaging in acts that had the tendency of creating division among members.
Without peace, achieving the goals of the organization, he said was impossible “that is why we keep hammering on the need for peace. Misunderstandings will take us nowhere so let us focus on peace and love.”
On his part, the newly elected chairman for the Greater Accra Redcross Society, Mr Dela Ashiagbor commended his colleagues for accepting to take up the responsibilities of being committee members of the group and assured that they would carry out their duties satisfactorily.
He also appealed to the youth to develop interest in joining volunteering groups to contribute towards nation development.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Greater Accra chapter of the Ghana Redcross Society, Mr Samuel Adobah in his remarks expressed gratitude to all members of the group for their selflessness towards service to humanity.
