The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ofosu Ampofo has called for unity among members and supporters of the party and avoid utterances capable of causing disaffection in the party.
He said the goal of defeating the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the general elections in 2024 could not be realised by a divided house.
Mr Ampofo also hailed the positive disposition of the constituency chairman, Nii Lante Lamptey, describing him as a team player, whose interest was for the party to return to power.
He made the call at an award ceremony organised by the Dome Kwabenya Constituency on Sunday in Accra to rewardloyalists of the party who gave off their best in support and assistance of the NDC during the 2020 general election.
Mr Ampofo applauded the 2020 parliamentary candidate, Elikplim Akurugu, the Kwabenya Constituency executives and members for carrying out what he described as “historic” electoral performance in the elections.
He entreated the regional secretariat to be neutral in resolving grievances in order to ensure peace, unity, harmony and cohesion to wrestle power from the NPP and promised branch executives would not be handpicked but elected next year to enable them to be effective and efficient to work ahead of the 2024 polls.
“The NDC has credible and reliable database of its members and supporters in every branch across the entire country, stronger and united as a result of membership registration exercise, is an indication in subsequent credible, transparent, free and fair elections, the NDC will achieve undisputable victory,” Mr Ampofo assured.
Alhaji Said Sinare, former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, urged delegates against selling their votes and advised them to rather vote for competent members who would wrestle the seat from the NPP in 2024.
Nii Lante Lamptey, admonished NDC members, supporters, sympathisers, faithful and well-wishers to continue to remain loyal to the party as their sacrifices would not be in vain.
“I want to assure you your labour for the party will not be in vain, we will always come to appreciate your efforts because NDC revolves in the grassrootsand all loyal members will be rewarded when we come into power,” he added.
