As the race towards the 2020 elections heats up, a young man in the Mampong Constituency in the Ashanti Region is lacing his boots to challenge the status quo.
Bright Adomako, an indigene who has lived all his life in the constituency believes it is time for the youth to take on the mantle of leadership in the area and he intends to run as an independent candidate in the 2020 general election.
Mr Adomako said his vision “is to create a strong, vibrant and united leadership through broader consultation and concrete youth participation and to empower the young generation to overcome self-doubt and other invisible barriers and to actively engage in politics.”
According to him, “the full potential of the Mampong Constituency is yet to be fulfilled because the right kind of leadership is missing and to turn this around,” he indicated that, “I feel with the help of the youth, I can bring an end to this seeming authoritarian regime of leaders who have concealed their personal ambitions behind the rhetoric of public service”.
The Mampong Constituency is seen by many as a traditional seat for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) with four out of five Members of Parliament (MPs) emerging from the NPP since the inception of the Fourth Republican democratic dispensation.
They are S.K Sarfo, P.A Sarkodie, Francis Addai-Nimoh and the incumbent Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong. However, Mr Adomako is determined, dedicated and committed to change the narrative in order to enhance the lot of the people of Mampong.
Mr Adomako and his team have begun touring the constituency and will release his plans and programmes in coming months. -citinewsroom.com
