Cameroon appeal to CAF for Tagueu’s replacement

The Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT, has filed an appeal to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on replacing Diederrick Joel Tagueu, who left camp early Monday, for health reasons.

Tagueu Tadjo made it into Clarence Seedorf’s list of 23 players and was retained for the Pan African Football jamboree underway in Egypt.

But unfortunately for the 25-year-old Marítimo forward, he will have to wait longer before making his dream AFCON debut, with the five times champions.

With just 22 players left in camp, Coach Clarence Seedorf says they have informed CAF of the need to replace Tagueu. This was confirmed on FECAFOOT’S official Twitter page, with a message which reads: “The news of Joel Tagueu’s departure from the camp was received with sadness in the camp. The staff and players couldn’t hold their tears. An appeal has been filed to CAF for his eventual replacement.”

It is still to be known who Seedorf will choose as replacement for Joel Tagueu, as the indomitable Lions began their title defence yesterday in Ismaily, against Guinea Bissau.
