The Akim Oda Constituency Chairman of New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Isaka Awudu,has appealed to party executives to resolve grievances peacefully for the sake of unity to retain power in 2024.
He condemned instances where executives, members and supporters chose to resolve complaints in the public instead of seeking redress within the internal structures of the party and stressed on the need to take advantage of internal structures of the party.
Alhaji Awudu made the appeal at Akim Oda at the annual delegates’ conference of NPP in the Oda Constituency on the theme: ‘Together we are all breaking the eight’ which was held in strict compliance with COVID-19 protocols.
About 390 delegates were grouped into two zones at separate locations which comprised of polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, constituency executives and council of elders, faithful, well-wishers and sympathisers.
At the conference, it was announced that there will be a polling station executives’ election in January 2022, electoral area coordinators election in February 2022 and that of constituency executives in March 2022.
Alhaji Awudu cautioned that without peace, unity, cohesion and harmony it would be difficult for the party to break the eight-year electoral cycle and tasked delegates of the party to ensure that they avoided impediments to ‘break the eight’.
Alexander Akwasi Acquah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Akim Oda Constituency in the Eastern Region, called for peace, unity and hard work among delegates to complement the effort of the executives to keep the NPP administration in power to sustain infrastructural development.
“I have registered 217 people onto comprehensive health insurance and by September 2021, I will organise free registration and renewal of National Health Insurance for my constituents and I plead with them to avail themselves so that in good health, collectively we develop the constituency
“Measures are underway to elevate the Community Health Planning Services compound to health centres and also help regularise casual workers at Akim Oda Government Hospital,” Mr Acquah assured.
Victoria Adu, Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive, encouraged members and supporters of the party to endeavour to conduct themselves in a way to attract more people to join the party to help sustain the NPP administration beyond eight years of uninterrupted rule.-GNA
