Klottey Korle NPP threatens to vote against party if…

Aggrieved Klottey Korle New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters of Henry Kwartei Quartey, the parliamentary aspirant for the area, have vowed to vote against the party if the disqualification of their candidate is not quashed by the leadership of the party.

They indicated to the leadership of the party there has been foul play in the exclusion of their candidate from contesting the parliamentary primaries after the party released a list of parliamentary aspirants on August 22, 2019. They insisted they wanted his name included in the parliamentary primary race on the ticket of the NPP.

However, the leadership of the party has directed all unsuccessful aspirants whose names are not published to petition the National Parliamentary Appeals Committee for consideration.

According to the aggrieved supporters, “we believe  the information circulating Mr Quartey’s  name is not part of list of parliamentary  aspirants who have successfully been given clearance to contest the September  28, 2019, parliamentary primaries is an oversight, we want to serve notice he should  be allowed to contest the election  without any manipulation.

“We have decided, if he is not given clearance then there will be no support and assistance from us in the Klottey Korley constituency and the party will lose the parliamentary elections and the seat again to our opponent since current happenings within the party in the constituency is gradually eroding successes chalked.

“Underhand machinating by forces within the party who do not want Klottey Korle to be the once successful constituency we witnessed between the year 2001 to 2008 when we can boost of Members of Parliament, to show our love, assistance and support for our party, we will support and assist the winner of the parliamentary primaries if Mr Quartey is given clearance to contest, otherwise we will advise ourselves,” they noted. -peacefmonline.com
