I’m poised to lead NDC to bring back economic resilience era – Duffuor

A flagbearer hopeful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Kwabena Duffuor, has declared that he is poised to lead the NDC to bring back the era of economic resilience for Ghanaians.

“Today, I officially announce my intention to contest for the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress anytime the party opens nominations to offer myself once again to serve the land of my birth with humility and sacrifice when given the chance to do so,” he postulated.

According to him, the temporary shifts the citizenry had grown used to in the country must give way to permanent change in attitude and priorities, witness the dawn of a new era for all which must be ‘the Ghanaian Dream’.

Speaking at an event in Accra on Thursday to officially declare his intention to contest for the flagbearer position of the NDC ahead of the 2024 elections, Dr Duffuor indicated that the performance of the late Professor Mills-led administration was unmatched and the best since independence.

He called on Ghanaians to rally behind him and NDC to rescue the economy to end their hardship, pain and suffering since Ghana is a great nation and had the capacity to rebuild the economy again as NDC did during 2009 to 2012.

Dr Duffuor who served as Minister of Finance under the late Mills government stated that the administration managed the economy well the youth did not lack jobs and unemployment rate dropped to 2.2 per cent at the time the administration was exiting power in 2012.

“I will in the next few weeks begin a tour of the country during which I will speak about issues concerning visions, missions and dreams as citizens, I am looking forward to having these conversations and explaining what I mean by Ghanaian dream, let’s stand up and lift our country to soar again like the eagle.

“As an eagle, the natural place for Ghana is the sky and not the ground, we are now on the ground, let us get up, work together so that Ghana will soar again, we cannot keep quiet when we are hungry and there is noise in the system simply because Ghanaians are hungry, we have everything but not making use of them so let us all arise and build together,” Dr Duffuor intimated.
