Embattled DCE unfazed by angry NPP youth

The embattled District Chief Executive (DCE) for Krachi West in the Oti Region, Douglas Osei-Nti, has called the bluff of rampaging supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who attacked him on Tuesday.

He has served notice he will be at work Wednesday to carry out his responsibilities as the president’s representative in the district.

Mr Nti said he was unfazed by the attack as he planned to resume work yesterday saying, “By God’s grace, I’m very safe, the security people are taking good care of me, myself and my family, we are safe and I will be going back to work.

Irate supporters in the Krachi West Constituency on Tuesday stormed the District Assembly office and chased him out.

According to them, the DCE engages in acts that have made the NPP unpopular in the constituency, thus their intervention, vowing not to open the office despite desperate pleas from party executives.

Some youths in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Krachi West Constituency of the Volta Region on Tuesday, locked the office of the District Chief Executive (DCE), Douglas Osei-Nti amidst call for his dismissal.

According to reports, the irate group stormed the office of Mr Osei-Nti and requested he leaves the office over claims of non-performance.

In an interview, a former NPP youth organiser in the constituency, Sarfo Sunkwa accused the DCE of making the party unpopular in the constituency which they fear might contribute to the party’s loss in the 2020 elections.

“We can’t sit and watch for the DCE to run the party down because we may not get up to 1,000 votes in the 2020 elections if he continues to occupy that position, we want him to go,” he stressed.

According to him, the youth worked tirelessly to bring the NPP to power and won’t sit aloof for their efforts to go waste.
