Challenges confronting nation not about digitalisation – Sammy Gyamfi

The National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has asked the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to stop lectures on digitalisation and fix the economy.

He noted that the problems confronting Ghanaians go beyond lectures on the digitalisation.

Mr Gyamfi observed that Ghanaians were suffering because of new taxes introduced by the government as well as increases in fuel products.

He made the call on his Facebook wall in response to the lectures organised by Dr Bawumia at the Ashesi University which centered on digitalisation of the Ghanaian economy to create jobs, wealth and connect Ghana to the world.

But Mr Gyamfi insisted that there was more to management of the economy than lectures saying “of what use is E-Pharmacy to the ordinary Ghanaian who is reeling under excruciating economic hardships as a result of the introduction of excessive taxes and steep increases in fuel prices by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government?”

He continued: “Of what use is “E-this and E-that” to the ordinary Ghanaian who is jobless and cannot even afford to buy mobile data to access these digital platforms?”

While conceding that digitalisation was good in helping accomplish difficult tasks, Mr Gyamfi explained that the NDC had superior record in digitalisation and was useless, unless it was linked to the economic empowerment of the people.

According to the NDC Communication Officer, “Ghana’s economy is currently in tatters due to the crass economic mismanagement of the NPP government, public debt has reached an alarmingly unsustainable level, while the rate of unemployment was on the rise with cost of living becoming unbearable for the vast majority of Ghanaians and the country is hot and Ghanaians are suffering”.
