Bawumia has paid his dues …Former NPP MP

A Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for the New Juaben South Constituency has said the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has paid his dues and therefore can be a good president if given the nod.

Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, Dr Mark Assibey Yeboah said the impact of the Vice President should not be discounted.

“When you look at the five northern regions NPP has 16 seats and NDC has 15 and that means he has done his bit to ensure that. With the kind of curriculum vitae DrBawumia has, I think he can be a good president if he is given the nod,” he noted.

A new national poll conducted recently by the Global Info Analytics had revealed that Vice President Dr Bawumia and former Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Alan John Kyerematen are tied in the race to lead the party’s standard bearership ahead of the 2024 elections.

The polls conducted between December 31, 2022 and January 15, 2023, show the race to lead the NPP was too close to call among NPP voters, as Dr Bawumia has lost the slender lead he enjoyed in October 2022 over Mr Kyerematen.

The poll now showed DrBawumia and Mr Kyerematen were leading with at 40per cent apiece among NPP voters.

However, among general voters, Mr Kyerematen’s lead over Dr Bawumia has been cut from 41 per cent to 32 per cent compared to 44 per cent to 31per cent in October 2022.

DrAssibeyYeboah, a former chairman of the finance committee in Parliament pointed out that in as much as MrKyerematen has demonstrated integrity during his time in the NPP government, he believedDrBawumia’s credentials which excite him would take him far. —adomfmonline.com
