2 ex-convicts arrested for burglary

Two ex-convicts have been arrested by the police at Denu in the Volta Region, for breaking into homes and stealing items belonging to their victims.

Joseph Senahia, 22, and Wisdom AgorsuAtorsu, 23, allegedly broke into two homes and stole items and money.

A statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Elizabeth EffiaTenge, Public Affairs Officer, Volta Regional Police Command, confirmed the arrest.

 She said the suspects broke into a home at Denu, and stole Haojue BF motorbike, mattresses, a television set, standing fan, money box containing GH¢7,000, cooking utensils, studio headphone, a DSTV decoder and cash of GH¢11,000.00, among others.

DSP Tenge said they also ransacked another house at Dzenunyekpodzi and stole mattresses, furniture set, a sewing machine, tabletop fridge and bags containing personal belongings.

She said when Senahia was arrested at a hideout in Awakorme, a suburb of Aflao, he mentioned Atorsu as an accomplice, leading to his arrest.

DSP Tengestated that the suspects confessed to committing the offence together with other accomplices, who were at large.

She said efforts were underway to arrest a third suspect, Kofi Kofigo.

DSP Tengeadvised residents to secure their homes and notify neighbours before leaving home for long.

She said “people in communities are entreated to be each other’s keeper and question suspicious characters loitering within neighbourhoods.”. -GNA
