The Head Coach of Accra Great Olympics, Daniel Annor Walker, has given hint of a desire to win the betPawa Premier League with the club.

Speaking to the media after guiding his side to record their first home win of the season against Bibiani Gold Stars on Sunday, Coach Walker stated that winning the league with Great Olympics was something he wishes for and hopes to materialise soon.

Coach Walker, who return to the Wonder club’s fold after spending last season at FC Samartex said that desired can be achieved when all the organs of the club put their shoulders to the wheel.

“Winning the league is attainable but that would be no easy task. From what I have seen, the current season would be tough because all the teams would be involved at some stage.”

According to him, it would be disappointing if Olympics miss out on the league, however, a top four position, he said would be refreshing for the team.

Last season, Great Olympics survived relegation on the last day, finishing 14th with 45 points, three points shy of the drop zone.

Refusing to speak on the team’s form last season, Coach Walker stated he loved the club, hence his return to help the team.

“I returned to Great Olympics because I love the team; it is my father’s team and I grew up watching him support them. Although I am not an Olympics fan, I came to like the team when I first came to coach and realised they were a team full of promise.”

He expressed excitement at recording the first win of the season, noting that it came by dint of hard work.

“I changed my training regime after the Bofoakwa game. After earning a point away at Heart of Lions, we needed to make a statement by going the extra mile to grab this win against a well-motivated team like Bibiani Gold Stars which beat Asante Kotoko last week.”

He also applauded the exploits of the goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare, who made two vital saves to help the side to victory.

“He has always been at his best for the team and today he proved why he is my number choice goalkeeper. I believe when he goes back to watch what he did today, it would urge him on to greater heights,” he added.
