Trader in court for attempting to rob aunty, kill son

A 24-year-old trader, who is accused of conspiring with thugs in an attempt to rob his aunty at Adenta Sakora, has appeared before the Accra Circuit Court.

Gideon Ayisi, who is said to have also ordered the thugs to kill the son of his aunty during the robbery.

Charged with attempt to commit crime namely, robbery, Ayisi pleaded not guilty.

The court presided over by Mr Kwabena Kodua Obiri Yeboah granted GH¢

50,000 bail with two sureties, who are to be family members, to Ayisi.

The court ordered accused to report to the police every Tuesday, directed the prosecution to file disclosures and adjourned the case to November 9.

Chief Inspector George Nana Akomea opposed the granting of bail to accused because the police were still investigating the case.

He said the police were making efforts to grab the alleged thugs, contracted to take part in the robbery.

Counsel for Ayisi prayed the court to grant his client bail because he has a fixed place of abode, was engaged in trading and would not abscond.

The court, granting bail to accused, noted that he had been in custody for some time.

Chief InspAkomeasaid police feigned interest in the case to prevent the robbery.

Prosecution said the complainant was Elisha Asare, a marketer, and resident of Adenta, while Ayisi, a trader, also stayed at Taifa Burkina, in Accra.

Chief InspAkomeasaid in 2019, accused stayed with the complainant in the family house at Adenta, in Accra.

The court heard that the complainant’s mother sacked accused from the house because the family had an issue with him (accused).

Chief Insp Akomea said Ayisi, who relocated to Taifa, resided at City Hotel, last month, allegedly recruited thugs from Taifa and a witness in the case, to assist him to rob his aunty, known as Diana, and also kill her son.

Prosecution said the police at Taifafeigned interest in taking part in the robbery, after they were alerted by the witness about the intended operation.

Chief Insp Akomea said Ayisi met the thugs at Taifa Lorry Station and boarded a taxi with them to AdentaSakora to execute the agenda.

 The prosecution said when the police went to the house, accused allegedly entered and showed the thugs his aunty’s room as well as the complainant’s room.

Chief Insp Akomea said Ayisi ordered the thugs to kill Asare and the policeman, who feigned interest arrested accused and informed the complainant about the diabolic plan of accused. -GNA
