Ghanaian bodybuilder shines at WABBA champs

Ghanaian bodybuilder, Martinson Ampadu, popularly known as the ‘Rock of Africa,’ has won gold in the Men’s Physique event at the maiden World Amateur Bodybuilding Association’s (WABBA) Bodybuilding Championship in Togo.

The championship held on Sunday brought some of West Africa’s finest bodybuilders from Cote d’Ivoire, Benin, Nigeria, and others.

Ampadu impressed the judges in the Men’s Physique event to be crowned as the winner in the category and become second best in the competition from over 100 competitors.

Speaking to the Times Sports after his outstanding display, Ampadu expressed delight with the performance and thanked all for the support he enjoyed.

“I am already looking forward to winning more medals for Ghana in future competitions, and I will keep on working hard to get to the top,” Ampadu added.

Mr Van Calebs, the Manager of the athlete, praised Ampadu for his hard work.

He praised the Ghana chapter of WABBA for giving his athlete the platform to represent Ghana.

Van Calebs Ampadu was billed to compete at a mega bodybuilding competition in Europe.

Ampadu has featured in major competitions around the world and recently emerged as the winner in the Men’s Physique category at the 2023 Bodybuilding Championship in Indonesia.
