The finest draughts players across the country would gather in Tema on Friday (Farmers Day) for the Tema Open draught championship 2023.
The event forms part of activities to commemorate this year’s Farmers Day celebration to be held across the country with the national event scheduled for Tarkwa in the Western region.
This event is organised and sponsored by the Tema Community 5 draughts club but is opened for sponsorship from corporate bodies interested in developing draught as a major sport or recreation in the country.
A member of the organisers, Mr George Afrifa (Kickway), who also doubles as a player, told the Times Sports yesterday that Friday’s competition would draw all the top players in the country.He advised other young and upcoming players to register to rub shoulders with some of the established stars in the country.
Among the favourites expected to thrill draught fans include kickway, Nii Ayi, Derrick, Koforidua, Gyamfi, Nero, Boadi, Prempeh, Tanko, Center kwofie, Kobbi and Papa Kyei.
Registration for the event opened to all players in Ghana is Gh¢10.00
