Divine Ayivor picks CPP flagbearership nomination forms

Dr Divine Ayivor, a former Adventist Minister, has picked nomination forms to contest for the flagbearership slot of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) at the party’s National Delegates’ Congress slated for March 28 at Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

Aspirants are expected to pay the appropriate full nomination fees to complete the process from February 28 to March 30 to be eligible to contest for a position and those seeking to be presidential aspirants, will be required to pay GH¢170,000, while national chairmanship aspirants will be required to pay GH¢70,000 as filing feelings.

Dr Ayivor after picking the forms, appealed to the party’s Central Committee to extend the deadline for the filing from February 28 to March 30 and then add another 45 days for the congress since each aspirant needed some time to visit all the regions to meet with Regional and Constituency Executives as well as polling station volunteers and deal with their challenges.

“We need time to set our agendas for their inputs and buy-in, come together in unity, resolve our differences and present a united front at the congress, winning party for Election 2020, posture ourselves, we may be late but for a good, strategic reason and rushing to congress will not be ideal.

“We are not united right now, we should not go to congress with our differences, animosity and name callings, we need to heal and unite to present a united front at our Congress then we can come out with strong and trusted leadership to lead us in the 2020 electoral battle and there is the need for downward review of filing fees which is high,” Dr Ayivor decried.

He is a PhD holder in Public Policy and Administration with Law Concentration, who indicated that the political architecture of the CPP and that of the country must change to provide a level playing field for all parties.

Aspirants for the positions of national vice chair, treasurer and general secretary will pay GH¢50,000 as filing fees, aspirants for national organisers will pay GH¢30,000, while those seeking position of women organiser and youth organizer will be required to pay GH¢20,000 as filing fees.

Four persons who have picked forms for Chairmanship are Hajia Hamdatu Haruna, acting chairperson Kweku Ankra-Quansah, Araba Bentsi-Enchill; and Nana Oduro Kwarteng. -GNA
