Citizenry entreated to collaborate with govt to accelerate devt

The School Improvement Support Officer for Aboadze-Abuesi, Josephine Theresa Mensah, has entreated the citizenry to endeavour to work together to develop the nation.

She explained that without peace, unity, harmony and national cohesion the nation would not be able to accelerate the development agenda citizens were yearning for and to desist from acts and attitudes that would derail the agenda.

“We must develop positive attitudes towards work and seek an atmosphere of peace, tranquility, tolerance, patience and perseverance to move the nation forward so as to reduce the hardships Ghanaians are facing today,” Mrs Mensah noted.

In a speech read on his behalf, Ebenezer Dadzie, the District Chief Executive for Shama, implored citizens to collaborate with the government to bring back the wheels of economic prosperity in the country and encouraged people to strive hard to protect aspirations of the forefathers for self-rule, better life, accelerated national development and national pride.

“Although the country has witnessed several military interruptions, they did not kill the fortitude and wish of the people hence advancement in democratic rule which has over the years introduced the government’s flagship policies, programmes and social interventions such as Free Senior High School and the Planting for Food and Jobs had brought the nation back on track and made the people economically viable.

“The Nation Builders Corps, One District One Factory, other programmes as some of the interventions put forward by the government to create employment opportunities for the youth and is seeking to rejuvenate the economy with the introduction of YouStart programme, which will create millions of jobs for them and help them contribute their quota to the country’s progress, growth and development,” Mr Dadzie indicated.

He revealed that the assembly was instituting various measures to help improve livelihoods of citizens through establishment of cocoa processing factory in West Park, a salt industry, and promotion of Small Medium Enterprises and business management training.

John Arthur, the Stool Secretary of Aboadze, reiterated the need for students to take their studies seriously to be successful in future and to help contribute to the progress, growth and development of the country and cautioned them to desist from engaging in indecent behaviours that would derail their resolve to accomplish their aims and aspirations in livelihood. -GNA
