Accra FM presenter granted GHC50,000 bail

Accra FM presenter, Bobie Ansah, 42, who was arrested for alleged publication of false news, has been granted GH¢50,000.00 bail with two sureties by a Kaneshie District Court.

The radio presenter, who has also been charged with offensive conduct, pleaded not guilty before the court, presided over by Mr Oheneba Kuffour.

Three other accomplices, Edwin Tamakloe, Kwame Kwakye and one Eugene, are said to be at large.

Bobie Ansah was represented by Kwadjoga Adawudu, Theophilus Donkor and Edudzie Tamakloe, who took turns to pray for bail for their client.

Prosecuting, Inspector Ebenezer Teye Okuffo told the court that sometime in January this year, the police received a report concerning a video circulating on social media to the effect that the First and Second ladies of the Republic of Ghana, Mrs Rebecca Akufo Addo and Mrs Samira Bawumia, had fraudulently acquired or granted to themselves State lands, at AU village and Kotoka International Airport, in Accra, for the construction of the “Rebecca Foundation,” a non-governmental organisation.

The prosecution said the police commenced investigations into the matter and invited the accused, but he allegedly failed to hour the invitations.

Insp. Okuffo said Bobie Ansah was arrested on February 10, 2022 and investigations so far revealed that the publication by accused and his accomplices was false.

The case has been adjourned to March 14, 2022. -GNA
