2 die,5 injured in accident at Tsito

Two persons died on the spot,and five others injured, when the vehicle in which they were traveling was involved in an accident at Tsito, in the Volta Region, on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as driver of the Ford Ranger pick-up vehicle, Samuel Kuma, 52, and a passenger, Festus Kuma, 58, officer of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), at the Tema Harbour.

The injured are Eric Dzamposu, 52, Gilbert Kokroko, 31, Edem Kudzronu,37, Harry Kuma and Ephraim Kuma.

The Ho West District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sebastian Maya,confirmed the story to the Ghanaian Times, yesterday, said the vehicle somersaulted several time sand landed on its back on the road.

He said the accident occurred when the driver of the vehicle that was travelling in a funeral procession from Tsito to the Burkina cemetery, near Kporvi, to bury the late Reuben Aggor, attempted to dodge a pothole and lost control of the steering wheel.

According to DSP Maya, the bodies of Festus Kuma and Samuel Kuma, who were pronounced dead on arrival at the HTH, had been deposited at the morgue at the HTH, and the vehicle had been towed from the road.

The injured were all receiving treatment at the Ho Teaching Hospital (HTH), at the time of filing this report.

It was not immediately clear if the two deceased persons whose surnames were Kuma and Ephraim Kuma, who was injured, were siblings.
