14 Fulani herdsmen arrested over gang raping girl, 13

Fourteen Fulani herdsmen have been arrested by the police in connection with the gang rape of a 13-year-old girl at Gomoa Adzintem in the Central Region.

The arrest which was undertaken by the Formed Police Unit together with personnel from Central East Regional Police Command also led to the retrieval of two single barrel and two pump action guns and 49AA ammunition.

The Director General of the Police Public Affairs, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kwesi Ofori disclosed this to the Ghanaian Times yesterday

He assured the public and the people of Gomoa  Adzintem that an identification parade would be conducted in the community to identify the real suspects to face justice.

The Ghanaian Times gathered that four suspects (Fulani herdsmen) allegedly attacked and robbed a security man and his daughter at Gomoa Adzintem in the Central region last Friday evening.

The suspects later took her daughter to the bush and all of them raped her in turns.

The suspects were reported to have shot his daughter’s hand during the attack.

The victim was rushed to the hospital and police proceeded to the Gomoa Potsin Polyclinic where victim’s father Daniel Ackom Quaye,49 and daughter were met at the emergency ward.

Police proceeded to the crime scene at Gomoa Adzintem and during the search found three BB empty cartridges.
