A man, who allegedly stabbed a 30-year-old man to death during a scuffle at Neoplan station in Accra, has been arrested by the police.
Fuseini Shamsudeen, suspect, was reported to have stabbed the deceased in the neck and other parts of the body.
The head of Public Relations of the Accra Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Effia Tenge, who confirmed the story to the Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday, said Shamsudeen was in police custody assisting in investigations.
DSP Tenge said on August 4, at about 8:20p.m, a complainant (name withheld) from Kokomlemle accompanied by others arrested and took Shamsudeen to the police station.
She said the complainant reported to the police that on August 4, at about 8p.m, Shamsudeen stabbed the deceased behind Victory Hotel, Kokomlemle, and he (victim) fell unconscious.
The Police PRO said the police together with the complainant went to the crime scene and found the 30-year-old man lying dead in a supine position with blood stains at the scene.
DSP Tenge said the police saw deep cuts on the neck with blood oozing and blood stains on the chest and stomach of the man.
She said investigations revealed that on August 4, 2019, at about 8p.m, a misunderstanding ensued between the suspect and the deceased.
DSP Tenge said Shamsudeen was reported to have stabbed the deceased in the neck with a sharp object, resulting in his death.
She said the body had been taken to the Police Hospital morgue whilst investigations continue.
