Savannah NDC chases former regional organiser over vehicle

The Savannah Regional Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has threatened to sue the immediate-past Savannah Regional Organiser of the party, Inusah Abdullai, for failing to hand over a Nissan pick-up vehicle to the party after he lost his position.

Mr Abdullai, according to a letter written by lawyers of the NDC Regional Executive Committee, has failed to handover the party vehicle to the regional executives after several appeals made to him since November last year.

He is accused of having used the vehicle, which was donated by former President John Mahama for party campaigns in the region, for his personal campaign during the most recent regional elections and for other personal purposes.

“The regional chairman, regional secretary and other party executives have on different and separate occasions met you and appealed to you to release the said party vehicle and property to the party.

“That you have turned down all these efforts of the party to release the said party vehicle for the conduct of party business since November of last year.

My instructions are that you are to Immediately release the said vehicle in the condition it was given to you; the state it was when you were using it to conduct your campaigns for your retention as a regional organiser latest by Tuesday, the 3rd of January, 2023,” lawyers for the executive, Yelinzo Chambers, said in the letter to Mr Abdullai.

The letter warned that Mr Abdullai will be dealt with legally if he refused to return the vehicle.

The letter added that, “upon receipt of this letter, if you refuse to release the said vehicle in good state to the party, I have instructions to initiate legal proceedings against you without further recourse to you for which we shall seek to surcharge you to pay to the party, an amount of one thousand

Ghana Cedis (GH¢ 1,000.00) per day for each day the vehicle was unlawfully held by you since November 13, 2022 till the date of Judgment.

“The said amount being the prevailing commercial vehicle rental rate of a pick-up or in the alternative, you procure a similar new pick-up to the party or pay its equivalent market value.

“It is hoped that you would do the needful to forestall litigation.”

“Be advised accordingly,” the letter stated.

Mr Inusah Abdullai lost the regional organiser position of the party in the Savannah Region to Sorku Kassim Yahuza by a slim margin. -citinewsroom
