PNC executives forcefully take over Gen Sec office

The woes of the beleaguered General Secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Janet Nabla are far from over as her office was forcefully taken over by the national executives of the party on Monday evening.

The takeover followed the expiration of the one week ultimatum given her to remove her items from the office and handover the keys to the chairman of the party, Moses Dani- Baah.

Ms Nabla was suspended indefinitely from her position by the National Executive Committee (NEC) about four weeks following what was described as gross incompetence and insubordination.

The doors to the office which were under lock and key were broken into with the assistance of a carpenter who was brought in by the leader of the party, David Apasera which was undertaken after the leadership formally notified the Kotobabi Police over their intended action.

In the presence of the landlord for the facility, Charles Christian Coleman, an inventory of items in the office were taken after the carpenter had broken the lock and also present at the time of the takeover were the National Vice Chairman, Hajara Seidu, the National Organiser, Abass Nuhu and the Deputy National Organiser Saeed Abdulah.

Ms Nabla was suspended indefinitely on August 26 following a petition against her conduct as the general secretary of the party.

According to the National Communications Secretary of the PNC, Awudu Ishaq a petition was jointly signed by 11 out of 15 national executives of the party over the alleged misconduct.

He said it became necessary to take the action because the general secretary had sworn on several occasions not to work with other party executives.

That, according to him, was despite several attempts by the leadership to prevail upon her to see the need to foster a harmonious working relationship in the interest of the party.

Mr Ishaq noted that the suspension was based on 12 different instances at which the general secretary exhibited insubordination.

Meanwhile, the party on Monday swore in Prince Agyemang-Duah as the acting general secretary and he is to take charge of the administrative responsibilities of the party until the next national congress.
