The Senior Pastor of the Revival Assemblies of God Church, Hohoe, Apostle Ernest Narh Abdulai, has stated that the perceived rift between parliamentarians is needless and they must forge ahead in harmony to accelerate socioeconomic development of the country.
“There is the need for Parliament to be united and do away with perceived rift between the Speakers, brawls and agitation on political lines so as not to create the situation where their constituents will lose confidence and the trust reposed in them,” Apostle Abdulai noted.
He bemoaned the absence of togetherness and tensions between the Majority and Minority Caucuses in the House which was stalling the smooth running of government business which could scare the citizenry and affect the democratic dispensation of the nation.
Addressing the media to climax the 40th anniversary celebrations and chapel dedication of the church in Hohoe, Apostle Abdulai pointed out that parliamentarians must build consensus and dialogue towards the progress, growth and development of the country and not take citizens for granted because they voted for them.
“Occurrences in neighbouring countries should not be taken for granted and become complacent but we want our parliamentarians to come together, avoid selfish attitude, ego and take socioeconomic development of the nation into consideration so as to deepen and strengthen democracy.
“We must sacrifice our comfort together for the betterment of the country instead of taking partisan stance which has the tendency to stall development in our constituencies and impoverish livelihoods,” Apostle Abdulai intimated. -GNA
