Online passport applications begins March 1

Effective March 1, 2020,  all passport applications in the country are to be done only online, following the phasing out of the manual application platform.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has, therefore, directed passport applicants to use the online platform, passport.mfa.gov.gh to submit their applications.

A notice issued by the ministry in Accra on Saturday said the online passport application was now available at all Passport Application Centres in the country.

“The measure will enhance service delivery to the Ghanaian public”, the notice said.

The development comes barely a month after the ministry reviewed passport application and related service fees upwards with approval from Parliament.

Ordinary passports that previously cost GH₵50, now cost GH₵100 for 32 pages, while a 48-page passport is no longer GH₵100, but GH₵150.

Expedited 32-page passport has been increased from GH₵100 to GH₵150, whereas the 48-page is now GH₵200.

Attestation of legal documents, which used to be GH₵25, now cost GH₵37.50, with travel certificate then GH₵25, now GH₵37.50.
