NPP to hold extraordinary constituency delegates confab to elect parliamentary candidates

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will on December 2, 2023 hold its extraordinary constituency delegate conference to elect parliamentary candidates in constituencies where the party has no parliamentary representatives.

This followed a meeting by the National Executive Committee (NEC) on November 10.

A statement issued by the party in Accra said the vetting of aspiring parliamentary candidates would take place in the various regional capitals from tomorrow to November 16.

The NEC directed the regional executive committees to communicate to their respective constituencies, and aspiring parliamentary candidates the date, time, and venue of the vetting.

However, the extraordinary constituency delegate conference would not take place in Ketu North, Akatsi North, Yilo Krobo, Jomoro, Fomena, and Bawku Central constituencies, the statement noted.

As part of the NEC meeting, the party used the opportunity to elect the following persons as national representatives for the vetting committee for the various regions.

The Oti Region members were Salam Mustapha, who would serve as Chairman, Dr Asiedu Kokro, and Abdul Taric Bonsu, while the Volta Region has Alhaji Masawudu Osman as Chairman and Kwadwo Afari, and Kwame Peter as members.

Alhaji Abdul Aziz Futa would Chair the Western Region committee with Dr Owusu Mensah, and Amo Dartey as members, while the Western North Region committee includes Isaac Jay Hyde as Chairman and Ernest Owusu Bempah and Emmanuel Asamoah as members.

The Bono Region committee would be headed by Ilaruna Mohammed with Sandra Sarkodee-Addo, and Akwasi Afriyie as members, whereas that of Bono East Region will have Rita Asobayire as Chairperson, with Dr Ernest Owusu Kumih and Miriam Awurama Duan as members.
