Man in trouble for allegedly defraudingvictim of GHc47, 000

An Accra Circuit Court has granted GHc50, 000 with two sureties, to Charles Kofi Asante, who allegedly defrauded a woman of GHC47, 000.

The court presided over by Obiri K. Yeboah, said the sureties must be true relatives of accused.

Asante, who has been charged with defrauding by false pretense has pleaded not guilty.The case has been adjourned to March 28, for continuation of Case Management Conference (CMC).

Asante was believed to have demanded the amount from the complainant, Ms Elizabeth Addo Brown, under the pretext of supplying her with 1,600 timber (Wawa and Dahuma spices).

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector, Isaac Anquandah told the court thatthe complainant reported the case to the police in September, 2021.

The court heard thatAsante took GHC47, 000.00 from the complainant and promised to supply her Wawa and Dahuma spices of timber, but bolted with the money.

Chief InspAnquandah said the police arrested accused at his hideout at New Adubeasi, in the Ashanti Region.
