Daniel Laryea selected for CAF referee course

Daniel Laryea has been selected by the Confeder­ation of African Football (CAF) for the CAF Second Pro­fessional Referees Course to be held in Cairo, Egypt on Septem­ber 14 – 19.

The Ghanaian referee is among 37 Referees, Instructors and VAR technicians who have been select­ed for the five-day training.

The referees will undergo phys­ical, theoretical, and technical tests during the course.

Daniel Laryea is currently Gha­na’s number one referee having made the FIFA International list in 2014. He began as a profession­al referee in the Ghanaian’s lower division league at the age of 17 and later officiated his first Ghana Premier League between Medea­ma SC and Berekum Chelsea, and two years later, he became a FIFA listed referee.

Following his enlistment, Laryea has officiated in a number of international football compe­titions including; the 2017 CAF U-17 Cup of Nations which was held in Gabon, the 2018 WAFU Cup of Nations in Ghana, the 2018 CHAN hosted by Morocco, and the 2020 CHAN tournament held in Cameroon, and was also one of the appointed referees of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Daniel Laryea officiated during the 2022 CAF Women’s Cham­pions League in Morocco. He was the Assistant Video assistant referee (AVAR) for the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League Final. —GFA
