Seventeen persons have passed the Basic Arm wrestling Referees programme in Accra.
The course was organized by the Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF) in collaboration with ABL’s Eagle Extra Stout (EES).
Participants were drawn from Western, Volta, Northern, Eastern and the Brong regions as well as neighbouring Togo, security services and arm wrestling clubs.
They were presented with certificates at the end of the training course at the Body Fitness Center in Dansoman.
Mr John Baptiste Akado, Brands Manager for ABL’s Eagle Extra Stout said “the decision to partner GAF in their development expansion is purely professionalism and we’re glad they (GAF) have lived the mandate”.
Eagle Extra Stout and GAF would this month commence the Eagle Extra Stout Arm wrestling Challenge, which would see the sport being promoted in selected cities across the country.
Season One of the ESS Challenge would tour Tarkwa, Koforidua, Kumasi and Bolgatanga while Season Two will also hit Ho, Cape Coast, Tamale and Accra to determine the ESS National Champion.
It would be recalled that the ESS Challenge begun at the Sunyani Technical University and after a successful event, management agreed to replicate the event across the country.
Arm wrestling, the fastest growing sports and the most talk about apart from football is expanding into the regions.
The sport in two years has won 100 continental medals for Ghana. –GNA
