Torgbui Badu IV installed …as occupant of Badu stool at Anyako Lashibi

The Klevie Clan of Anlo has installed and outdoored a new chief, Torgbui Badu IV, as the rightful occu­pant of the Badu Stool at Anyako Lashibi in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region.

The Klevie Clan of Anlo after several consultations, settled on Torgbui Badu IV known in private life as Mr Paul Kofi Dogbe, a 50-year-old boxing promoter and trainer after 17 years of protract litigation over the rightful successor of the late Tog­bui Badu III, known in private life as Mr Joylet Kwabla Woanya.

The colourful ceremony was witnessed by the chief of Aborlorve Norlorfui, Togbui Dzisam IV, Togbui Dukli Atipoe V and Togbui Kposege IV all of Anyako observed the occasion on behalf of the Anlo Traditional Council.

The colourful moment came as Torgbui Badu IV sworn the oath of allegiance to the three chiefs, who welcomed him to sit among them as a symbol of accepting him as one of the Anlo chiefs on behalf of the traditional council.

Torgbui Dukli Atipoe, who chaired the programme said chiefs were the custodi­ans of tradition and culture of the people and asked Torgbui Badu to uphold and protect the cultural heritage of the people of Anlo, at all times for the benefit of the present and future generations.

He also stressed the need for the new chief to promote peace and unity among the people, particularly the Badu family to enable them to support him to bring the needed development to the people.

The new chief, Togbui Badu expressed regret that the people were deprived of development for the past 17 years, as a result of protracted litigation over who should occupy the Badu stool, and said the struggle was over, and he would work hard to bring development to the area.

Torgbui Badu, whose son is Isaac Dog­be, a boxer, said through unity, he would mobilised human and material resources for the development of the area, and said as part of his development agenda, he was committed to promoting youth develop­ment in the area.

According to him, he would promote environmental cleanliness at the various beaches to help attract tourists and inves­tors to the area, to create jobs and generate income for the youth.

He also announced that environmen­tal protection was one of his agenda, to engage the youth by organising educational activities to create the needed awareness for people, particularly the youth to appre­ciate the need to protect the environment at all times.

Torgbui Badu also said education was the engine of growth of every commu­nity, therefore he would promote educa­tion among the youth to enable them to prepare adequately to face the future with confidence.
