Success of district level elections will depend on youth – Aspirant

An aspiring Assembly Member for the Yaane Electoral Area at Jumapo in the New Juaben North Municipality, Bismark Nana Oppong, has called on the youth to get involved in the upcoming District Assembly and Unit Committee  Elections since their success depended on them.

According to him, “the success of the elections depends largely on the youth because the older generation are fading out at a faster rate in the system and there is the need for new and energetic young people to take over the mantle of leadership.

“Development of our communities depends mainly on us, let us rise and challenge ourselves because we have the energy to push and to carry the agenda to deepen democracy and good governance,” Mr Oppong stressed.

Sharing his vision when voted into power, the aspiring Assembly Member assured that he would seek and consult the chiefs and elders of the area before any project was executed because Jumapo and its environs are among  the leading cocoa growing communities in the Eastern region but the cash crop has declined drastically in recent times due to loss of interest and migration of the youth to urban cities for greener pastures.

Mr Oppong called on the youth to vote massively for him on Tuesday December 17, 2019, because he had the qualities to help develop the area, would liaise with the assembly to ensure that the numerous natural resources such as clay deposits, bamboo among others are developed to create jobs and opportunities for the youth.

“I will liaise with the Chief Executive to organise regular meetings with the heads of educational institutions in the area and parents to explain the need for them to take good care of their children and wards and also take keen interest in their education.

“On my vision on health and sanitation, I will  promote regular health care, good hygiene, proper disposal of refuse, promote water and sanitation facilities and initiate monthly clean-up exercises,” Mr Oppong added.
