NFG outlines activities for 2023

The Netball Federation of Ghana (NFG) has outlined its programme of activities for the year 2023.

President of the NFG, Rev. Emmanuel Dzani Nikoi, disclosed this to the Times Sports in an interview on Wednesday on the feder­ation’s plans to prepare for upcoming events, including the Africa Games, Accra 2023 event.

Starting from today, the NFG will kick start it activities with an import­ant executive meeting at the Media Center at Accra sports Stadium to consider plans lined up for the year.

Also expected to be in attendance today are participants of the NFG’s Legacy Programme.

This, Rev. Nikoi said would be followed in a week’s time a general meeting at the same venue; an activity expected to bring all stakeholders of the sport together for deliberations on the way forward for the NFG.

The federation will hold its maiden championship on March 6 and, that is, the National Netball Championship at the Madina AstroTurf Sports Complex to select the national netball team.

That, according to the NFG Presi­dent, would be followed by a national team camping from April 10-30 for players that excelled at the champion­ship.

Rev. Nikoi hinted that the team will travel to participate in a championship in Windhoek Namibia on April 25-29.

The federation will then commence camping for the national team for a tournament and a series of training matches from May 1-31 that would see Ghana contest Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Namibia, Kenya and Tanza­nia in Accra from June 1-30, ahead of the Africa Games.

He said from September to Octo­ber, the NFG will organise a national netball league competition from Sep­tember 1 to October 31, followed by the national knockout and Champion of Champions tournament.

The NFG will close its season with a general meeting that will review ac­tivities and hold an awards ceremony on December 9.
