Legon Cities Dep. CEO backs Konadu to change club’s fortunes

Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Betpawa Premier League side, Legon Cities, Kwabena Onyina Asenso says the team’s Head Coach Maxwell Konadu has the backing of the board to change the fortunes of the club.

The Royals salvaged a point against Accra Great Olympics and Asante Kotoko at the Accra and El-wak Sports Stadia, respectively in the match weeks 23 and 24, leaving them just two points off the relegation zone.

Speaking to Citi Sports in an exclusive interview about the club’s current status in the ongoing campaign, Kwabena Onyina Asenso, was confident that the club’s narrative would soon be a good one under their current head coach.

“Definitely, Maxwell Konadu will do the job. We started very well but I don’t know what happened in the middle of the season. I think the World Cup break and those three players we allowed to go for the CHAN cost us a lot but I know things will pick up.

I think for about two or three matches they are doing very well so hopefully things will work out. Relegation? No! Maxwell will do the job. I know what he can do; he has done it before so he can do it.”

In the matches against Olympics in Accra and Kotoko at Elwak, Cities had to fight back from goals down to snatch points in the games and according to Mr Asenso, the team’s ability to fight back after going down was a good sign.

“What it means is that we have a team that is ready to fight hard for points; we have a squad that is ready to do well to survive the relegation scare.”
