Three persons, who allegedly robbed victims of vehicles in the Accra metropolis, have been granted GH¢250,000 bail with three sureties, two to be justified with land documents.
Felix Addo, also known as (aka) Cool Jay, a film producer, and actor, Adzimah Mensah, aka, Innocent, a driver, and Charles Frimpong, aka, Nana Frimpong, a businessman, have been charged with conspiracy to robbery.
Addo, Mensah and Sammy and Taller, now at large, have been additionally charged with robbery.
Frimpong is facing another charge of dishonestly receiving a black Toyota Corolla, belonging to Charles Bosoka.
The accused allegedly robbed two persons of an unregistered Black Toyota Corolla S, valued at GH¢47, 000 and GH¢40, 000 cash.
They pleaded not guilty and their counsels applied for bail, arguing, they would not interfere with police investigations.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Fuseini Yakubu, opposed the granting of bail, saying accused were flight risk and would not be available for trial.
ASP Yakubu told the court, presided over by Mrs. Evelyn Asamoah, that the complainant, Dussey Wisdom, a trader, lived with his daughter, Delali Dara Dousey, at Sapeiman.
Prosecution said that Charles Bosoka was a driver and a third prosecution witness, while Charles Mensah, was a sprayer, and a fourth prosecution witness.
ASP Yakubu said on July 5, this year, the Intelligence Unit and Anti-Armed Robbery Unit of the CID headquarters, gathered a gang was engaged in robberies and car snatching in the metropolis.
He said Addo and Adzimah Mensah were arrested and Identity Cards and Bank cards of Charles Bosoka were retrieved from Addo’s room.
ASP Yakubu said during interrogation, Addo and Adzimah Mensah admitted that they and Sammy, at large, robbed their victims of properties, including a Black Unregistered Toyota S Corolla.
Prosecution said the Toyota Corolla S was given to Frimpong through Sammy.
ASP Yakubu said when Frimpong was arrested in connection with another crime, he admitted receiving the Toyota Corolla S, but swapped the enginewith that of another Corolla vehicle at a Fitting Shop at Ofankor, near John Teye School, in Accra.
Prosecution said physical examination of the two vehicles indicated that Frimpong had swapped their respective engines and the chassis, tampered with other parts and re-sprayed the vehicles to sell them.
Prosecution said the police also retrieved six other vehicles, including a Toyota Avalon, Dodge Charger, and Toyota Highlander from accused.
ASP Yakubu said on July 5, this year, Addo, Adzimah Mensah and Sammy, armed with implements unlawfully damaged the window of a prosecution witness entered his hall and made away with GH¢40,000, and also took away an unregistered Toyota Corolla S.
