Captain Christian Pulisic scored the second from the spot in the 19th minute after he was fouled in the box before Folarin Balogun perfect finish and Gio Reyna’s chip completed the job for the USA.

Ghana made some changes in the second half hoping to fight back but that was not enough as the United States held on to win the game.

Kingsley Schindler came on for Gideon Mensah, Salis Abdul Samed was introduced for Thomas Partey as Antoine Semenyo and Ernest Nuamah were brought on for Inaki Williams and Mohammed Kudus, respectively.

USA took control of the key moments in the game as they tested Manaf Nurudeen countless times.

The Belgium based shot stopper who replaced Lawrence Ati-Zigi pulled some crucial saves to save Ghana from brutal annihilation as the game ended 4-0 in favour of the United States..

Ghana have two crucial FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and the Comoros Islands in November.

Moments after the game, Head Coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton, apologised for the disappointing output against the United States of America.

“I’m very sorry, and I take responsibility for the poor performance against the USA,” Hughton said.

The coach conceded it was another poor showing from the Black Stars, coming right after a 2-0 loss to Mexico in a similar friendly game.

Coach Hughton admitted that drastic changes were needed to halt the bad performances of the national team.

The gaffer believes these results were worrying and thus has pledged to take steps to rectify the situation at hand, a Citisports report said.

We will continue to strive to get the right formula.

“I have also been involved in the game long enough to know sometimes you can go through what will be regard as bad periods to come out better for them.”

“Sometimes bad performances like today can be something that can kick start something else or it can be something that makes my mind up about certain systems and players.

I understand the disappointment and there is nobody that is more disappointed than I am.

Since taking the Ghana job as Head Coach in March 2023, Chris Hughton has managed 2 wins, 2 defeats and 3 draws while scoring 7 goals and conceding 9.

Prior to his appointment as Head Coach he had served as Technical Director for the team for a year.
