Tipper truck plunges into River Asuoyaa

A tipper truck loaded with sand, last Friday, plunged into River Asuoyaa on the Okorase stretch of the Koforidua to Akuapem-Mamfe road, in the Eastern Region.

The vehicle went out of control, plunged over the cliff and crashed on rocks in the river.

The 37-year-old Atama Cudjo,  who was driving the vehicle with registration number  GR 3751 V, was said to be ascending a hill after crossing a bridge at the spot where the accident occurred.

The driver’s mate reportedly safely jumped out off the truck immediately it began to reverse, and the driver was trapped under the truck, but he miraculously survived.

The police, who received a distress call, rushed to the scene and rescued the injured driver.

The Eastern Regional Commander for the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD), Chief Superintendent Prince Jude, confirmed the incident to the Ghanaian Times, and revealed that the driver was currently responding to treatment and the truck was yet to be removed from scene.
