A boxing extravaganza dubbed ‘Thunder in Volta’ is slated for April 11 at Dzodze in the Volta Region.
Organised by Ace Power Promotions, the event will attract top notch and upcoming boxers to exhibit their talents and is aimed at developing the sport to produce more world champions for the country.
According to the organisers who previously staged some fights in the country which saw their premium fighter, Dodzi ‘Zewuze’ Kemeh winning the IBF Africa Super Welterweight title, there was the need for more competitions to be held across the country for young boxers.
Dodzi who has been tipped as a world title prospect would engage a yet-to-be announced boxer in the headline fight of the night.
“Based on our past fights, we have developed innovative strategies to promote professional boxing competitions in Ghana as we foresee active involvement of stakeholders in the entertainment, corporate, political and religious sectors in the future,” Director of Operations at Ace Power Promotions, Isaac Amankwaah has said.
He added that, they intend to create the platform for boxers in the country to develop and rise to become global fighters starting with the upcoming boxing night.
“We want to take Ghanaian boxing to the next level with regards to nurturing boxers to win world titles for the country. We would organise a minimum of three promotions every year and boxers would be given the needed resources to excel,” he stressed.
That he said would ensure that corporate entities come on board to support boxers to get to the top and lift high the flag of Ghana.
The night he said, would be exciting as some renowned artiste would also be brought on board to entertain guests.
